South Stanley Infant and Nursery School offer Nursery, Reception and Key Stage 1 education for children irrespective of their ability and backgrounds.
We offer Nursery provision for up to 52 children and 180 children across Reception and KS1.
We currently have 157 children on roll (including Nursery).
South Stanley Infant & Nursery School is committed to meeting the needs of all children including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. We make every effort to work in close partnership with our families. It always helps children if we are aware of their identified needs prior to them starting with us as we can provide appropriate intervention and support from the very beginning. Advice from the LA or other agencies may be requested to ensure we can meet any needs appropriately. Likewise if you have any concerns of your own about your child’s needs, share them with us and together we will work through them.
Here at South Stanley Infant and Nursery School we adopt an admissions process with regard to the allocation of Nursery places. If you are considering South Stanley Nursery please contact Mrs Helen Warren on 01207 232445 in the first instance, who will discuss your requirements, our availability and the process with you.
Offer of Primary school places 2020/21 (amid COVID-19)
Primary school place offers for September will be made on Thursday 16th April by Durham County Council. Those who applied online will be informed via email, if you did not apply online you will be informed via a letter which should arrive by 18 April 2020.
Families should follow the guidance they receive within this correspondence to either accept or appeal the offer you are given.
All offers and appeals are managed by Durham County Council and not our school or Stanley Learning Partnership.
We know you will be worrying about your little one starting school in September and even more so given the situation we currently find ourselves in. Please understand that at the moment we can’t provide you with specific details about how and when starting school will take place. We can’t invite you to have a look around or come meet your child’s new teacher. You may not get to see their new classroom before their start date or get to tell us about the things they enjoy, or more importantly the things they don’t. We can’t ask you questions and you can’t share your concerns.
We know and understand how nervous and anxious this may be making you feel. We are parents ourselves, some of us with younger children and therefore in the same situation as you. We know better than anyone, how big a step this is for both you and your child and how daunting it is at the best of times.
We want to reassure you that as soon as we can we will update you as to how we will welcome your family to our school and partnership. As always, but only when the time is safe to do so, we will work with you to ensure that your little one as has the best start to their educational journey we can possibly give them.
Thank you for your understanding and patience and we can’t wait to meet you.
